Pivosto invests steadily and responsibly.

History

Pivosto owns approximately 10% of the shares in Kalmar Corporation and Hiab Corporation. These companies were previously part of Cargotec Corporation. Pivosto’s roots go back to the founding of Cargotec in 2005, when Kone Corporation was split into two listed companies: Cargotec and the new Kone. Since its inception, Pivosto (originally its predecessor D-sijoitus) has engaged in active securities investing and has gradually expanded its holdings. Today, it is particularly focused on the circular economy, and in addition to its listed equity holdings, it also has private equity and fund investments.

Circular economy

Circular economy is an economic system aimed at ensuring that the economy operates within the limits of environmental sustainability. This is achieved by keeping materials and products in circulation for as long as possible while maintaining their value. Circular economy solutions can enhance biodiversity, facilitating the transition to a world where production and consumption are based on services rather than ownership. Circular economy has multiple dimensions, which can be categorized into five groups: product as a service, sharing platforms, renewability, extending product life cycles, and resource efficiency.

Impact investing

One of Pivosto’s key themes in its investment activities is impact. Therefore, we are looking for investments that not only offer financial returns but also have significant positive effects, for example, on the environment and society. Pivosto is involved in Credit Suisse’s Asia Impact Investment Fund, which aims to improve living conditions for the poorest population in Asia.
